Who’s blogging: Vianney Rodriguez
Explain your blog name: Sweet Life refers to me having the best of both worlds. My love for Mexico with the appreciation of being raised in Texas. Mexican food, Tex-Mex food and Texan food are 3 completely different cuisines which I love. On my blog I share my addiction to each cuisine which makes for a pretty Sweet Life.
Blogging since: 2009
Where you’re blogging from: South Texas
Most popular post: My Charro beans were widely popular until I began featuring Margaritas! Spicy Watermelon, Prickly Pear, Tamarind and Chocolate have been my greatest source to reach new readers. I adore margaritas, so featuring them was a natural step, but I never knew people would enjoy them so much – I love it!
What you’ve learned about food: Food is love. Food is connection. People love to come together over a wonderful plate of food. It soothes the soul.
Where do you get inspiration for your posts? My inspiration comes from childhood memories, dishes that I enjoyed while living at home and the flavors I enjoy as an adult. Food has always been a big part of my life. My mother is a wonderful cook and she has shared her love of food with us.
What have you learned from blogging? Alot! I had to learn to share more that recipes. People enjoy the recipes, but they also want to know about the writer. They enjoy reading the memory tied to the dish, your failures in the kitchen and what you cook for your family during the week. I’m pretty shy, so sharing at first did not come naturally.
Where else can we find you online? You can find me on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and New Latina where I am a monthly contributor.
What are your favorite food blogs? Oh goodness there are too many! I find a new blog everyday that inspires me. Food bloggers are some of the most generous people that I know. I love them all!
