RNCLatinos.com, the site created by the Republican National Committee (RNC) to conduct outreach to Hispanic voters, features a stock image of Asian children, where Latino kids should be.
“An outside vendor developed the site and its being corrected immediately,” says Alexandra Franceschi, the Specialty Media Press Secretary of the RNC.
The stock photo from Shutterstock tags the photo with keywords like “asia,” “asian,” “japanese,” and “thailand.”
The Spanish-language site is linked to prominently from the main RNC portal.
Franceschi says despite the mistake on the site, the RNC is committed to presenting itself to Latino voters.
“The Republican party is dedicated to engaging Latino voters across the country,” she says. “We’ve taken significant action, including bilingual phone banks in battleground states and working hard with Hispanic state directors so people understand what the Republican message is.”
