It looks like Latina A-listers love to dip their feet into many new ventures.
Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Penelope Cruz and Eva Longoria are only a few of many Latina celebs juggling an entertainment career and business.
Lopez, aside from her acting, dancing, singing, and charity work, is going to be releasing a new limited-edition luxury t-shirt line.
Lopez, who recently announced she will no longer be a judge on “American Idol,” is launching “Teeology,” a new luxury t-shirt line. According to Latina.com, she teamed up with entrepreneurs MJ Eng and Brian Lee and fashion entrepreneurs Erica Zohar and Jeff Marine to launch this company.
Various designers will be posting their t-shirt designs on their website. And “Teeology” is going to base its production on members’ votes online. The members choose their favorite t-shirt design, and the most popular styles will be put into production.
This is not the first time that the Latina has showed her love for fashion: she launched her clothing line “JLo” in Kohl’s stores last September.
Lopez will also be releasing a new app for the iPad, called DancePad. She teamed up with mobile entertainment startup Moonshark to create a 100 level dance app. Users will be able to jump, slide and jive with their fingertips.
Another Latina working her entrepreneurial skills is Shakira. She is scheduled to launch her new fragrance, “Elixir,” later this month.
Sharika’s new fragrance is exotic, and different from her previous smells. She says her latest fragrance is like a second skin, and is aimed at a youthful consumer. The fragrance is set to debut at Kohl’s and Sears stores.
“After my first two fragrances, I wanted to do something different. I wanted to develop a fragrance that would express my most sensual and exotic side, and Elixir is the result of that. We worked on the concept of a ‘second skin,’ a fragrance that becomes a part of you,” Shakira, 35, told WWD.com
The “To Rome with Love” Academy-Award-winning actress, Penelope Cruz, has decided to team up with Saks Fifth Avenue to raise awareness and money for a good cause.
The Spanish actress will be the face of their 2012 “Key to the Cure” campaign. Cruz will be promoting women’s cancer research funding by wearing a t-shirt designed by Carolina Herrera, which will be sold for $35 at Saks stores and online. Proceeds will go to the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, according to Hispanically Speaking News.
Eva Longoria has switched roles from being on-screen to being behind the scenes; she is the producer of a new upcoming dating show, NBC’s “Ready for Love.”
Longoria has been busy campaigning for President Obama’s “Forward” campaign this summer, but she also had time to announce the new venture, her new reality TV dating show on NBC, “Ready for Love.”
“This show is about making real connections and the ongoing search for love, something that both men and women can relate to,” said Longoria in a press release. “I am excited to be a part of such an innovative and promising format that will help these great guys find true love.”
The show, hosted by Giuliana and Bill Rancic, will feature three bachelors: Ernesto Arguello (a businessman), Ben Patton (an international financier), and Tim Lopez (a musician). Three matchmakers will travel the country looking for 12 single women for each guy, and will then narrow them down to find the perfect match for each man.
“Ready for Love” is scheduled to launch in the winter on NBC.
These three ladies have had a lot on their plate recently; let’s wait and see what new projects they will start next.
