Lady Gaga – the blockbuster singer and entertainer – is making her feature film debut in the Robert Rodriguez-directed flick, “Machete Kills.”
Lady Gaga (neé Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) has been courted left and right for new projects, but Robert Rodriguez confirmed in a tweet Thursday that the 26-year-old showed up at the Austin, Texas set to film her role of La Chameléon in the sequel to 2010’s “Machete.”
“I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills,” posted Rodriguez. “She kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!”
It’s the first-ever full-length feature film role for the pop icon, whose role was a “Monster” secret until Rodriguez broke the news on Twitter. And it seems like the newly-minted La Chameléon had a blast with her fellow cast-mates and couldn’t keep up a “Poker Face” about her new role, tweeting:
“Yes it’s true, I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS …IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane.”
The New York City native has been cast as the sexy La Chameléon – a gun-wielding seductress – joining an all-star cast including Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Danny Trejo, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen. The action film features the title character Machete (played by Trejo) as he travels throughout Mexico to track down an arms dealer whose very existence threatens the United States. The film is expected to be released sometime in 2013.
