Welcome to Cafecito! Each week we will have a lively, candid conversation with prominent Latinos who shape our community – artists, politicians, actors, achievers and thinkers. Set at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Café in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, we will have a relaxed conversation over a cafecito about their personal and professional lives as Latinos in America.
This week on Cafecito…Tony Award-winning poet and spoken-word performance artist, Lemon Andersen, joins us to discuss his tumultuous career. Self-educated and emerging from a poverty-stricken background, Lemon overcame the odds and brought his talents to Broadway and beyond. He is currently working on a musical called “Toast” and is also the subject of the documentary www.lemonthemovie.com which will air on October 19th on the PBS series, VOCES.
