It’s time to put the rumors to rest, because Shakira has made it official: she’s expecting a baby with soccer player boyfriend Gerard Piqué. In an announcement that quickly created buzz on Twitter and Facebook, Shakira posted the news that she is happily awaiting of her first child and will be withdrawing from this weekend’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas
“As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!,” the Colombian singer-songwriter wrote on her website Wednesday. “At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”
The announcement follows rumors of a reportedly high-risk pregnancy for the 35-year-old, who has been dating the 25-year-old Piqué since March 2011. And it’s been a busy week for the superstar, who has just confirmed that she will be a judge on the next season of the hit singing competition, “The Voice.”
