Saturday Night Live just had its best ratings of the season and it’s all thanks to Latino crooner Bruno Mars, who was the show’s host and musical guest over the weekend.
Mars – whose real name is Peter Gene Hernández – helped bring in a record number of viewers for the comedy series, which helped the NBC show secure its best numbers and highest ratings since troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan hosted SNL in March.
The soulful vocalist has garnered critical acclaim for his comedic performance during the show, even drawing comparisons to musical icon Jason Timberlake.
Sketches featuring the singer included impersonations of fellow singers including Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Michael Jackson.
As a musical guest, Mars performed two singles – “Locked out of Heaven” and “Young Girls” – from his upcoming album “Unorthodox Jukebox,” set to be released on Dec. 11.
