Apple finally took the wraps off the much anticipated and iPad Mini. As you would have guessed, this is a smaller version of the ultra popular iPad Tablet, with a screen that measures 7.9 inches diagonally and fits in one hand.
A game changing feature for Apple fans – and you know who you are! Is that you can hold the iPad Mini with one hand and it weighs less than half of the original, super popular iPad tablet. How popular? The company announced today they have sold more than 100 million iPads since the product was first introduced in 2010!
At a starting price of $329 this new model will come in both black and white. And while competitors such as Amazon (Kindle) and Google (Nexus) have already launched 7-inch tablets; the iPad Minis’s 8 inch screen has 4:3 aspect ratio which makes it more enjoyable to consume your media content.
The iPad Mini has similar chip (power) to the iPod Touch and it includes front-facing Face Time camera with a 5-megapixel camera in the back. And given those features, I am going to predict here that this will be the gadget of choice for tween girls across the world.
The various models of the iPad Mini start at $329 for Wi-Fi only version and 16 GB capacity and consumers will be able to purchase 32 GB for $429 and 64GB for $529. If you prefer to control your own connection, the cellular versions start at $459. And you will be able to pre-order on Friday October 26 and receive your device by November 2.
New iPad Update
In an unusual move since the now famous “and one more thing” comment of legendary Steve Jobs product announcements, a brand new iPad was launched alongside the Mini just 6 months after it’s latest update.
This new 4th generation tablet starts at $499 with 16 GB of storage. It ships with the new A6X processor for all models which makes your computing and navigating faster AND for the first time you will have the option to buy the LTE models – giving you wireless access to 4G LTE (Verizon Wireless has the best and widest coverage on this network – so pick your provider wisely if speed is important to you)
Apple tablet offerings are this multiplied with these announcements today – what will be YOUR favorite tablet of choice?
