Ricky Martin may have just announced his departure from “Evita” on Broadway, but he’s about to say “g’day” to Australia with the news that he will be sitting in the judge’s chair on the Australian version of “The Voice.”
According to Deadline, the announcement about Martin’s new gig was made on Australian television Thursday. The 40-year-old superstar will be replacing outgoing judge Keith Urban, who left the show in September and now has a place at the “American Idol” judges’ table alongside Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Steven Tyler.
Martin will be joining returning coaches Seal, rocker Joel Madden and Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem on the second season of the popular singing competition, which is produced locally down under.
No premiere date of “The Voice Australia” has yet been announced.
