Several hundreds fled a volcano in Nicaragua after it began spewing hot ash and gas on Tuesday. Around 1,500 farmers said they would not leave the area. The San Cristobal volcano last erupted in September 2011. A torrential downpour flooded streets and demolished homes in Peru yesterday. The flooding displaced hundreds as many rushed to find higher ground. Emergency workers were called in to assist the stranded. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is said to be up walking and talking after cancer surgery and a bout of respiratory illness. Duties he delegated to Vice President Nicolas Maduro took effect yesterday.  A Brazilian fast food chain launched a new campaign for hungry diners – hamburgers with edible wrapping. The campaign plays on their tagline: “you can’t control yourself.”  And there is an added plus: less waste.
