Victor Cruz, Jessica Alba call to end gun violence in PSA after Newtown school shooting

Just days after the horrific Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Latino celebrities like Victor Cruz, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez and Cameron Diaz have called to end gun violence. “Columbine. Virginia Tech. Tucson. Aurora. Fort Hood. Oak Creek,” say celebrities like Jamie Foxx, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michelle Williams and Beyoncé in the video. “How many more?” ask Alba and Cruz, while Gomez and Diaz reiterate their plea for gun control. The star-studded PSA – which includes luminaries like singer John Legend, comedian Steve Carell, Gwyneth Paltro and “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm – was produced by Demand a Plan, a campaign that demands “that President Obama and Congress step forward with a plan to end gun violence.” Cruz, a wide receiver for the New York Giants, dedicated a recent football game to 6-year-old Sandy Hook victim Jack Pinto. After he learned that he was Pinto’s favorite football player, Cruz wore shoes with the words ““R.I.P. Jack Pinto,” ”Jack Pinto, my hero” and “This one is for you” during the game against the Falcons in Atlanta, Georgia. “I don’t even know how to put it into words,” Cruz told the Associated Press. “There are no words that can describe the type of feeling that you get when a kid idolizes you so much that unfortunately they want to put him in the casket with your jersey on. I can’t even explain it.”
