The stars were out in full force at the 70th Annual Golden Globes and among them, Latinas shone both on the red carpet and on stage as presenters at one of the year’s most prominent Hollywood awards ceremonies honoring achievement in film and television. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association doled out awards to performances in acclaimed films like “Les Misérables,” “Django Unchained” and “Silver Linings Playbook” while television series including “Downtown Abbey,” “Girls” and “Homeland” also received awards.
While fan favorite Sofia Vergara lost the award for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for Television” to Brit Maggie Smith (“Downton Abbey”), the Colombian actress stunned in one of her favorite silhouettes: the mermaid gown. Sparkling in a black sequined design by Filipino designer Michael Cinco, the 40-year-old looked beautiful and graceful, both on the red carpet and during the star-studded dinner at The Beverly Hills Hilton.
Presenter Rosario Dawson glowed in a light blue gown with the “it” shape of the moment: a dramatic peplum waistline, walking the red carpet solo without British beau Danny Boyle.
Actress Eva Longoria presented two Golden Globes and while she may have been dressed in black, the Mexican starlet stunned the crowd in her thigh-high slit gown, making her look one of the most talked about of the evening.
Fellow Mexicana Salma Hayek also opted for black, but her Gucci gown accented her curves in all the right places. Tasteful but dramatic with a large bow tied at the hip, Hayek accented her look with coral lips and turquoise earrings.
Jessica Alba reminded the world of her star power, as the mom of two glammed it up on the red carpet. The Honest Company founder and Golden Globes presenter looked radiant in a coral sweetheart neck gown and let her natural beauty shine with simple makeup accented by deep coral lips. Wearing her hair in loose waves, the 31-year-old channeled one of the night’s biggest trends: that of classic, old-Hollywood bombshell – a look worn during the evening by Megan Fox, Rachel Weisz, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Chastain. And if you love her necklace, you’d better start saving up now, as Alba’s mega-watt Harry Winston diamond necklace is valued at a whopping $5.8 million dollars.
Jennifer Lopez – who presented awards for “Best Movie Score” and “Best Original Song” – knows how to make a dress look good and the diva didn’t disappoint in a Zuhair Murad gown. Lopez, who chose the designer to create each of the looks worn during her “Dance Again” tour, looked every inch the star in the nude mesh dress with white lace overlay.
Brazilian stunner Morena Baccarin looked glam in a roaring 20s look, taking to the stage as “Homeland” won the Golden Globe for best drama in a blue chiffon gown with sheer sleeves and sequined details. The Valentino dress set off Baccarin’s dark bob and smokey eye, making the actress look like a true winner.
