Vixen, check. Superhero, check. Surfer, special agent and girl next door – check. Jessica Alba has played a variety of roles throughout her film career but it looks like her newest film may take her to astronomical heights as an astronaut in “Weightless.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alba is in final negotiations to play a U.S. astronaut who finds herself regretting her role in a tragedy that could put her dreams of flying into space at risk.
The drama, which is already being shopped to the Berlin Film Festival, marks the first time that Oscar nominated screenwriter Milo Addica (“Monster’s Ball”) will direct a film.
Alba, who has yet to comment regarding her role in “Weightless,” has kept busy with several films on her slate. She’s voicing the character of “Lena” in upcoming animated film “Escape from Planet Earth” and will also appear in Robert Rodriguez movies “Machete Kills” and “Sin City: A Dame to Kill for,” which will hit theaters later this year.
