Miguel Diaz-Canel was named Cuba’s newest vice president. The position makes him the most visible successor to Raul Castro, who plans to step down from power at the end of his term.   Also, Fidel Castro made a surprise appearance at the National Assembly, taking a seat next to his brother. This is only his second appearance in the assembly since falling ill in 2006. A Belgian tourist in Acapulco was killed  by two gunmen who tried to steal his car. This is the latest episode of violence to strike one of Mexico‘s most important tourist destinations.   A priest in Mexico holds mass wearing robes decorated with superheroes and uses a water gun to spray churchgoers with holy water.  He says it is his way to entertain the local children.
