School becomes the melting pot in a small Iowa town home to immigrants

In the rural town of West Liberty, Iowa more than half of the population are Hispanic, the majority of them immigrants – putting them front and center as the nation debates immigration reform. The biggest melting pot in the community is the education system where all of the students volunteer to be part of the school’s dual language program. Nancy Gardner, principal at West Liberty Elementary School, discusses how the classroom is helping students of all cultures together from an early age.
