Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new son may be English royalty, but Penélope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem just welcomed a baby girl, a birth that could be considered near-royal thanks to the celebrity status of the two Latino mega-watt celebrities.
The photogenic couple welcomed their second child – a baby girl – on Monday, July 22, the same day as the royal arrival, reports Spanish publication Hola!
According to the magazine, the Oscar-award-winning actress delivered the baby at 4:24 in the afternoon at a hospital in Madrid, Spain.
Cruz, 39, and Bardem, 44 – have yet to make a public statement about the newest addition to their family. The couple – who were wed in small ceremony in the Bahamas in July 2010 – are already parents to a son, two-year-old Leo.
And Cruz – who recently announced the release of a new handbag line designed with sister Monica – has made no secret of the fact that she loves motherhood, telling Vogue in 2011 that motherhood is “a revolutionary experience.”
“From the first second, you feel so much love …It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment—when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”
