Eva Longoria is making sure that Newark Mayor Cory Booker is anything but desperate when it comes to his campaign for a seat in the U. S. Senate and will be stumping for him in New Jersey on Monday.
Longoria – who became a household name with her role on prime time soap “Desperate Housewives” – will appear at a campaign rally with Booker in the town of Plainfield on Monday afternoon before appearing at a rally in Newark just one day before special primary elections are held, reports Politicker NJ.

Booker – whose run for Senate has been endorsed by Oprah Winfrey – has promoted Longoria’s upcoming rally appearance on Twitter, with a retweet of a link leading to an article advertising the event. The 44-year-old politician, who was first elected as Newark Mayor in 2006, has also publicized the mega-watt star’s scheduled appearance on his official Facebook page.
Longoria, who graduated with her master’s degree in Chicano Studies in May, has stumped for other politicians in the past. In 2012, the 38-year-old served as a co-chair of President Obama’s re-election campaign and in March 2013 supported candidate Kate Anderson for a seat in the Los Angeles School District.
“(I’m) doing my civic engagement by mobilizing voters and making sure they’re educated on the issues and operating from the belief that if you want to change something in this country you have the power to do that as a citizen,” Longoria told the Associated Press in 2012 about her passion for politics.
“So those are probably the things I’m most proud of.”
