In an exclusive interview to be aired on Telemundo’s Enfoque, anchor José Diaz-Balart asked Arizona Republican Senator John McCain whether he was worried that the movement toward immigration reform he helped lead in the Senate may be affected in the House due to issues like Syria.
“I’m very concerned about that – because this issue must be addressed,” said Senator McCain.
The Arizona Senator said the country cannot continue having 11 million people living in the shadows.
“We have – a proposal that I believe is acceptable to the majority, overwhelming majority of the American people. And we should reflect the will of the people and get this up and get a bill to the President of the United States so that we can take advantage of these wonderful people who now live in our country,” said the Arizona Republican. McCain was one of the key architects of the bipartisan Senate immigration reform bill.
The full interview with McCain airs on Enfoque this Sunday at 12pET on Telemundo.
