For some reason, fruity cocktails – you know, those drink offerings with hues of bright pink and orange – are always the most popular, but somehow, we think they don’t quite do fresh fruit justice. We’re talking about the perfumed fragrance of ripe mango; the crisp and lightly sweet bite of pear and the sweet-tart characteristic of a deep pink raspberry – all luscious flavors, which, if done right are perfectly enhanced when incorporated in your traditional margarita recipe.
Take for example, the Raspberry Paloma, with a recipe much more simple than its poetic name conveys: just grab a handful of ripe raspberries and shake with a mix of lime juice, silver tequila, agave nectar and grapefruit. Act now, as the last of summer’s raspberries are available at markets across the country – and pass the glasses around for the ultimate fresh berry twist on the classic margarita.
