Ricky Martin can now add author to his long list of accomplishments with the news that the Puerto Rican singer will release his first children’s book in November.
“Santiago the Dreamer in Land Among The Stars” will be released both in English and Spanish on Nov. 14, Martin announced Monday via Twitter.
The picture book – illustrated by Spanish artist Patricia Castelao – features the story of Santiago, a young boy who has big dreams of becoming a performer. But when he fails to nab the lead in his school play, Santiago begins to doubt his ability. However, with his father’s encouragement — and unconditional love – Santiago gains the self-confidence to pursue his goal of taking to the stage in a big way.
“I hope this book inspires young readers to believe that dreams woven from their imaginations can become reality,” Martin said in a press release about his debut literary effort. “My greatest wish is that Santiago The Dreamer will occupy a special place in the hearts of children and their parents, with everyone enjoying this uplifting story that shows the fulfillment of dreams begins with self-confidence.”
Martin – father to five-year-old twins – made the announcement about his book just hours before flying from New York City to Washington, D.C., where the Grammy award winner will perform as part of the Música Latina event that will be held at the White House in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
