Celebrate Natl’l Dessert Month: 5 sweet bloggers

October is National Dessert Month and in keeping with our weekly spotlight on bloggers, we’re sharing our favorite blogs written by Latinas with a sweet tooth that we can identify with. After all, desserts are a huge part of Latin culture – whether it be the presentation of an intricately decorated cake at a christening or slices of creamy flan passed around after a rich family meal – and each of these bloggers, in their unique way, shares why dessert and food is a common link between us all.

Mari’s Cakes: Dominican baker Mari Núñez lets readers into her world, sharing treasured family recipes for classic Dominican pastry, puddings and even cake – which in Dominican culture, is the ultimate dessert served at any family gathering and celebration. Click here to check out her blog.

Dulce Delight: Brazilian pastry chef Raiza Costa creates classic desserts with a delicate flair, breaking down the most intricate of sweets in an approachable way. Her how-to-guide to preparing galettes, puff pastry, macaroons and more are fantastic; think her tutorials as your personal cooking school. Click here to check out her blog.

Always Order Dessert: We love Alejandra Ramos for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is because she makes bad-for-you desserts look so darn good. Whether it’s a cake, ice cream, muffin, cookie, donut, custard or bar recipe, you’ll be sure to find something to whip up next time the craving for something sweet hits. Click here to check out her blog.

Cannelle et Vanille: Aran Goyoaga is a James Beard Award-nominated food blogger whose experience with gluten allergies has inspired her to create all types of refined, gluten-free treats that are sure to please both discriminating adults and tiny picky eaters. Click here to check out her blog.

Flanboyant Eats: Although blogger Bren Herrera cooks up all manner of beautifully photographed eats, we’re partial to her dessert posts. After all, this Cubana chef has devised numerous variations on the classic flan, including pistachio, sweet corn, pomegranate and Grand Marnier, oregano and lemon, guava and chocolate ganache flavors that look delicious and taste even better. Click here to check out her blog.
