Weekend Cocktail: A tequila cocktail made with fridge, pantry staples

Old habits die hard: ask anyone who ponies up to their regular watering hole over the weekend just to order their usual, whether it be tequila on the rocks or rum and coke. The same goes for those who prefer to mix up their drinks at home with the use of their standby mixers for a favorite cocktail. But here’s a fun idea: some of the most interesting, flavor-packed cocktails can be mixed up by making use of staples you probably have on hand in your fridge or pantry (really!).

Tequila Criolla

Take the Tequila Criolla, a cocktail that makes use of tequila, guava juice (we recommend stashing a box or a few cans in the pantry for use any time!), jalapeño and lime; the latter items that you probably have lingering in the produce drawer of your fridge. Add a splash of agave nectar and you’ve mixed up a refreshing cocktail that’s at once bold and fresh with the lingering bite of spicy heat. Are you convinced to try something new this weekend? We know we are ….
