Shakira won’t be back for another season of NBC’s “The Voice,” the Latin singing sensation has confirmed to E! News, making way for Christina Aguilera’s return to the hot (red leather) seat.

The 36-year-old explained why. “It was a hard decision for me to make, because I’m really fond of the coaches, the people in production and everybody around me,” she said. “And I really enjoyed The Voice, but I also have a musical career and I’m also a mother now and my poor baby’s so tired flying such long distances. He already has more miles than any pilot. So I think I have to give him a little break, and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

“I was depressed,” Longoria shared with Dr. Oz in an interview airing on his show this Friday. “I was sad.”

And the toll of the breakup wasn’t just emotional, revealed Longoria. In fact, she stopped eating, which lead to a significant weight loss on her tiny 5’2” frame.

“That’s probably the time I got the most compliments because I was so skinny …my diet was coffee,” said the actress and TV producer. “So people kept saying,’ you look amazing. Divorce agrees with you.’”

The compliments didn’t make Longoria feel any better about the split, but it wasn’t until she visited the doctor that she learned that the weight loss had a severe impact on her health.

“I was just depleted of every vitamin,” revealed Longoria. “It was like all these things were physically wrong with my body, so I had to saturate with vitamins and kind of get back on this track.”

Getting back on track meant changing her diet completely, said Longoria, who shares her favorite healthy Mexican recipes on Friday’s episode of “The Dr. Oz Show.” She cut out sugar (although the actress loves soda) from her diet for three months, which she credits for helping turn her life around.

“I did a really strict no sugar diet, and I had more energy than I’ve ever had,” said Longoria. “My palate was different.  Things tasted better.”

Now, years later with several successful business ventures to her credit, a new role as a political activist and several TV projects under way, Longoria commented that she’s now concentrating on her goal of empowering Latinas to put their health and well-being first.

“I’m an optimist about life,” she said.

The show – which featured bachelors Tim Lopez, Ben Patton and Ernesto Arguello being paired up with potential mates with the help of matchmakers – is executive produced by Longoria and will now be replaced by “Grimm” at 10 p.m.  following a two-hour episode of “The Voice.” The change is effective beginning on April 30 and “Grimm” will remain in the 10 p.m. time slot through May 21, states a press release from the network.

Hosted by husband-wife duo Giuliana and Bill Rancic, “Ready for Love” debuted on April 9 to an audience of 3.8 million viewers, reports The Wrap. The series failed to gain viewers with its second episode,  with a 13 percent decline for a total of 3.4 million viewers during its highly competitive time slot and NBC has said that it will be pulling the show from its prime time lineup.

Early on, “Ready for Love” received comparisons to “The Bachelor,” whose May 2013 two-hour finale on ABC had 9.99 million total viewers.

Fans who are eager to see who their favorite contestant land a significant other will be disappointed as “it has not yet been determined when or where remaining episodes of “Ready for Love” will be aired,” reads the statement.

NBC’s entertainment division was unavailable for comment.

Amid numerous reports that the reality show had been cancelled, Longoria went on the defensive, telling fans on Twitter that the show was “just changing days.”

News about the less-than-stellar status of “Ready for Love” follows reports that Longoria’s animated series “Mother Up” will has been picked up for co-production by Hulu. The half-hour comedy – which will also feature Longoria voicing the character of a frustrated career woman turned suburban mom – will air on Hulu in addition to City Television in Canada.

And if there’s one thing worth noting, it looks like Eva Longoria’s “Ready for Love” drama isn’t all professional, as the petite 38-year-old star recently shut down rumors that she is dating Arguello, an entrepreneur from Miami, Florida after the two were spotted together enjoying a drive over the weekend in Los Angeles, California.

NBC Latino and NBC are both divisions of NBC Universal.

“Never underestimate a 5-foot-3 Colombian girl!” the 36-year-old explains in a preview of “The Voice,” which premieres Monday, March 25 on NBC.

As Christina Aguilera’s replacement on the fourth season of the NBC singing competition, Shakira is joined by new judge Usher and veterans Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. Levine and Shelton made headlines last season for ribbing Aguilera during her time in the red judge’s chair and it seems like they intend to continue their antics towards the Colombian singer-songwriter.

“They complain that I play the lady card, but it’s not a gimmick — I am a lady!” teased Shakira, who began taping the show while still pregnant.

Shakira – who began her singing career when she was just  10-years-old – said joining the show was an easy decision.

“I knew it was a show about artists and artists, real talent – that made it for me,” explains Shakira about becoming the competition’s sole female judge. “I was really humbled and honored when NBC called and asked me to participate.”

While the show’s producers have promised die-hard fans that the format of the competition will stay the same, there will be a fun twist to tonight’s premiere: The four judges will take to the stage to perform an opening number. And get this: The judges will each play an instrument during their performance. Levine will play the drums, Usher and Shelton will play the guitar and Shakira will play the harmonica. (Who knew Shakira could play the harmonica?)

Shakira makes juggling a demanding career, motherhood, her relationship to Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué and even playing the harmonica look glamorous, but it looks like her secret to balancing it all is taking joy in life’s simple pleasures.

“I can’t help it! I had to share this!” tweeted Shakira, sharing a close-up photo of her son.  And it looks like audiences may have a chance to see Shakira’s maternal instinct for themselves tonight, during the show’s intense blind auditions, during which contestants sing for a chance to be mentored by one of the four celebrity judges.

“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesday on NBC at 8/7c.

“Who’s winning season four?” asks Milian, to which Shakira bursts into laughter and points to herself.

“Why not?” asks the Grammy award-winning artist.

But it’s not all fun on the singing competition, as Shakira reveals in her sit down backstage alongside fellow new judge Usher during their first day on the show.

“You come here with a certain idea, wanting to find unique voices. Voices that are unmistakable,” shared Shakira about her approach to the reality competition. “But once you’re there, you have to roll with it and open your mind to new possibilities. Sometimes you are moved by a certain performance and you just want that person on your team.”

And it looks like Shakira – who gave birth to baby Milan in January – is counting on her secret weapon to be a trait that should serve her well in motherhood.

“Have an open mind, and change your game as you go,” reveals Shakira.

But does Usher – who has sold millions of R&B album and who has successfully mentored young artists including  Justin Bieber – have an edge over Shakira?

“There are many different ways of nurturing talent. I’m associated with Justin Bieber and being a mentor, so here’s an opportunity for me to do it in front of the world with 12 contestants and hopefully win ‘The Voice,’” explains Usher in the interview. “If not, [I want to] give a perspective and view of what you go through, what it takes to be an entertainer.”

And while the two superstars looks like they have brother-sister competitive banter down pat, the two revealed that their time on “The Voice” isn’t actually the first time the pair have worked together: they performed with icon Steve Wonder in an all-star performance of “Higher Ground” for President Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration in February 2010.

“The Voice” premieres March 25 at 8/7 c on NBC.
