Eva Longoria to reunite with Ricardo Chavira on new comedy

Just when you thought that Gabrielle and Carlos Solis’s – played by Eva Longoria and Ricardo A Chavira – tortured romance was over with the end of “Desperate Housewives,” think again. The two actors are going to pair up again on the small screen – but it’s not quite what you think.

Longoria will appear on an episode of Chavira’s upcoming comedy, “Welcome to the Family,” making her guest spot a highly-anticipated reunion as the two have not appeared on television together since “Desperate Housewives” ended in May 2012.

Chavira confirmed the news Wednesday on Twitter after posting several tweets teasing about a “special guest appearance” on his new show, which premieres on NBC on October 3.

“Welcome to the Family” revolves around the story of a Latino college-bound teen (Joseph Haro) whose Caucasian girlfriend (Ella Rae Peck) has an unplanned pregnancy, which brings their families together. Chavira will play the comedy’s father figure and Longoria will guest star as Ms. Nunez, an English teacher with whom he’s had a romantic history, reports Deadline.

News of Longoria’s return to prime time television comes just days after the 38-year-old political activist spent time in New Jersey stumping for Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s campaign for Senate.

“I think he’s going to be a future president of the United States,” Longoria told Extra TV of Booker, who won Tuesday’s Democratic primary. “I just believe in him so much and his stance on everything.”
